Some Crystal Gold - An expensive specimen

2 Attachment(s)
At a recent prospectors even in Arizona I had the opportunity to photograph a real spectacular crystal gold piece.
I cant remember the weight, I recollect something more or less around a quarter ounce. I was told it was found somewhere in California.
I was asked to estimate the speciemen value and estimated around $10,000 full retail - crystal pieces like this are rare and expensive.
I just had a chance to process the pictures, I thought you might enjoy looking.

Beautiful, droolworthy! (And very, very expensive.)

Man, that is stunning! If I found something like that, I'd probably ruin it by having a heart attack and dropping dead!:bear_tongue:

Putting a penny next to it would give perspective. Nice crystal though....

Heres a copper crystal I got from the UP of Michigan back in early 1991 from the New surface find. I thought I would put a little Gold next to it for perspective.

Nah, I'd just ruin a pair of underwear and pants, maybe some socks too. Nothing that couldn't be replaced.

I've seen some good gold xtal micromounts, but never have seen a macro specimen like that! I've got some fair UP copper xtals, I'll have to find them and take some photos. Dawg, whereabouts in the UP did you find yours? Greenland area perhaps?

Never heard of Greenland. Mine came from near Mt.Horace Greely in Keweenaw county. It did not come from a mine. It came from the surface of the ground. It was an exposed deposit.

How very cool.
I know nothing about this - thanks for the post.

Guess I'm like the people who think steak is created wrapped in plastic packages.
